We are fully plant-based!

Our retreats are all-inclusive, which means we will provide all your meals, snacks, tea, coffee, and cacao!

Food is the one element that we truly cannot live without!

In many ancient cultures, food was often treated with much more respect and ceremony than today. The land was revered and treated as a gift from the goddesses and we believe it should still be treated as such!

We don't use animal products in the food we will be sharing with you on our retreats, but still, we aim to respect the materials and their preparations in the old ways. What goes into our bodies affects so much more than just what comes out of them, so every meal is prepared with love and reverence for its importance.

We strive to work with local and organic products whenever possible, depending on the season, and pride ourselves in our seasoned cook Alana, who will be working her magic on nourishing, home cooked meals.

Each meal is served with a generous portion of love of course!

Our Guest Facilitator

Our goal is to grow our community with each retreat, ceremony, or gathering we facilitate. In doing so, we invite different femme-identifying creatives to join as our guests and bring their unique offerings.

This retreat, we have joined forces with our wonderful friend & artist;

Valentina The Black Pearl

Valentina’s Ritual Offering

‘‘I will facilitate a sacred ritual to deeply connect with our creativity, our bodies and the land. We’ll work with sound healing to release anything that doesn’t serve us. We will also connect with the sacred Celtic Ogham Trees and ask to receive their guidance throughout our practice.’’

Artist Bio: Valentina The Black Pearl

I have been a professional model, photographer, and self-portrait artist for nearly twenty years, and I have worshipped Mother Nature since I can remember. My deep fascination with the natural world, plants in particular, started when I was a child. I’ve always been in awe of Nature’s utter perfection and how we humans are provided for by our beautiful Earth.

We live in such a disconnected world where we have forgotten how to live in and with nature, and how to respect her. Through my pictures I am trying to bring attention to the deep connection between humans and Mother Nature, the connection we so easily ignore in this day and age.

When I lie naked on a mossy rock I am fully present with all my senses. I slow down my breathing and I listen with all my body. I feel the dampness and the cold of the moss. But also the sharp rocks and pointy sticks hidden in there. I feel them digging in my flesh, contrasting the feeling of cozy softness. I can smell the incredible smell of the forest, so hearty, so full. I can hear the tiny insects moving about, so close to my face. I can feel the energy of the ancient rocks, of the plants, their roots, of the soil. It is a moment of connection like no other. It’s such a beautiful feeling. I feel part of the Earth, encompassed in her beauty and embrace.

‘‘Mother Nature is my Church, my teacher, my refuge. Our connection with her is so precious and fundamental to our survival and I love her with all my being.”

At the beginning of 2023, I began my training in Shamanic Studies, and I’m now integrating my learnings into my art and photography sessions.

‘‘I choose my naked body as my way of expressing myself and tell my visual stories because it just feels like the most natural thing to do. ‘‘

I make a point of going out shooting in any kind of weather conditions. I swim in the Atlantic Ocean all year round here in Ireland. I have shot nudes in temperatures as low as -10℃ under snow and rain and in fierce winds. I find exposure to the cold to be a great mindfulness practice. Of course, I feel the cold when I’m standing naked on top of a hill in the wind, but it is a mind over matter kind of thing. I acknowledge the feeling of cold on my body but I don’t let my mind seek refuge into a panic response.

I focus, I breathe, I concentrate on taking the pictures and telling the story of that connection with the elements through my body.

ACTIVITIES & LECTURES

Shared activities are a big part of what make this experience so magical, and we strive to offer a unique blend of artistic expression, embodiment, and informational lectures.

All our attendees are free to choose what they participate in, although we do encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zone and embrace new, unexpected experiences.

Over our five retreat days, we will partake in various rituals and ceremonial practices together.

Rituals are the sacred gateways through which energetic shifts unfold, marking moments of transformation and awakening. They are the catalysts that spark change, igniting the soul and realigning the spirit. Through ritual, we renew ourselves, calling forth the energies of rebirth and growth, while weaving deeper connections within our communities. Rituals are the keepers of tradition, honoring the ancient ways with a conscious heart, ensuring that the wisdom of the past lives on in the present moment.

On a deeper level, rituals attune us to the rhythms of the sacred, guiding us back to what is truly meaningful—those truths so potent and timeless that they endure across the ages. Ritual is the thread that ties us to the mysteries of the cosmos, to the ancestors, and to the very essence of existence itself. In this way, ritual is not just a practice, but a living force that helps us remember what is deserving of our devotion, our focus, and our love.

RITUALS & CEREMONIES

CEREMONIAL CACAO & THE ART OF SHARING

Our opening ceremonies include sharing our energies over a cup of ceremonial cacao to open our hearts…

It is a potion of the ancients, a sacred elixir that stirs the blood and awakens the heart. It is no mere drink, but a spell that conjures vitality and opens the pathways to deep emotional release. This pure, raw cocoa is rich in magnesium and antioxidants, surpassing many plants in its magical potency. It is a source of untamed energy, a natural aphrodisiac that calls forth the spirit of passion and joy.

Within the sacred bean, you’ll find *phenylethylamine* (PEA), the very essence of love’s enchantment—this is the same alchemical substance that flows through our veins when we first fall under love's spell. PEA sharpens the mind, focusing thoughts and intentions with clarity and purpose. Cacao also carries *anandamide*, the blissful chemical, a divine endorphin known to open the soul to ecstasy. But what makes cacao most mysterious is its unique bond with the human spirit—*Theobroma cacao*, the "food of the gods," is the only plant known to harbor this sacred compound.

This potent brew is a vessel of transformation, holding within it chromium, theobromine, manganese, zinc, copper, iron, vitamin C, omega-6 fatty acids, and tryptophan—all of these elements combine to nourish the body, mind, and spirit, weaving their magic to uplift and enliven. Drink deeply, for with each sip, you awaken the ancient powers within.

ICELANDIC MAGIC STAVES & RUNIC MAGIC

Icelandic magical staves, or Galdrastafir, come from the ancient tradition of using runic symbols as powerful tools for communication, protection, and manifestation. In Icelandic, Galdrastafir combines “galdra,” meaning “magic,” and “stafir,” meaning “staves” or “letters,” representing a form of mystical writing.

In ancient Iceland, practitioners of these magical staves, known as Seiðmenn (men) and Vísendakona (women), wielded these symbols in seiður, or spellcasting, primarily for personal growth and the well-being of others. Runes acted as channels, creating a conversation between humans and the hidden powers animating the universe.

For us women delving into the world of witchcraft, Icelandic runic symbols provide a profound link to ancient wisdom, offering a powerful means to connect with intuition, nature, and the mystical forces around us. By studying and working with these symbols, we can tap into energies that Icelandic women have long invoked for strength, clarity, and protection. These staves allow us to step into a lineage of feminine power, using runes as a way to enhance our own rituals, find grounding in our personal journeys, and amplify our intentions.

We at Völur are reviving the tradition of seiður in a contemporary way—blending ancient symbols with our unique, personal spellwork to foster a deeper connection with ourselves and the natural world.

Through the carving of these symbols, we reclaim a space to honor our inner witch, using the same magical staves as the Vísendakona before us to summon strength, wisdom, and transformation in our lives.

We will have an Icelandic Witch in our midst who will offer Rune Readings to all those who dare to lift the curtain and look into the future!

She will be revealed later on so make sure to sign up for our Newsletter below for periodic updates!

SUMMER SOLSTICE FIRE RITUAL

Our main event for our Sisters of the Solstice Retreat!

The invocation of fire will be our primary way of celebrating and welcoming the Summer Solstice by dancing together around a large bonfire.

This year’s Ritual: The Summoning of the Wild Woman.

Fire is the primal force—the element of destruction, creation, and purification. It is the spark that ignites both chaos and transformation.

The ancients understood fire’s raw power and infused it with their deepest prayers, intentions, and reverence, honoring its sacred force.

We believe in the healing properties of fire and that it can be summoned to amplify our spiritual practices or aid us on our journeys of self-acceptance and empowerment. Fire can cleanse, purify, and burn away what no longer serves, or acts as a sacred vessel for our intentions, helping them to take form in the physical world.

From the flames of transformation to the embers of divine wisdom, join us as we shed our clothing and dance naked, primal, and free together under the loving gaze of the midnight sun.

EMPOWERING GROUP SHOOT

During the fire ritual, Völur will facilitate a group art nude photoshoot where all our participants are invited to take part in being in front of the lens for our two self-portrait artists Valentina & Icelandic Selkie.

Do not worry! You will have guidance and encouragement from three professional art nude models who will help you feel empowered and comfortable in your own skin.

Our utmost mission is to take an active part in empowering other women and femme to feel powerful, comfortable, and free in their own skin. The road to self-love can be long and our hopes are to bring our participants a step closer by facilitating a safe space so we can all channel our wild energies together.
