Samhain Sisterhood

In our retreats, bringing witchcraft into practice can be as simple as gathering under the moon, creating intentions, or meditating with nature’s elements.

Altars, seasonal rituals, herbal knowledge, and folklore create sacred spaces for exploration, giving participants a safe, empowering environment to journey inward.

As facilitators, integrating witchcraft’s teachings enables us to honor this ancient wisdom, nurturing our collective sense of purpose, resilience, and interconnectedness. In this way, witchcraft isn’t just a practice but a powerful means to reclaim our intuition and inner strength, deepening the transformative experience of every retreat.

We begin each retreat by gathering in a safe, intentional space, often in circle, sharing a cup of ceremonial cacao. This simple act helps us ground, connect, and open our hearts to the experience ahead. The cacao supports us in softening into presence, inviting clarity, connection, and a deeper sense of awareness.

We use cacao from Dalileo, a brand committed to purity, quality, and sustainability. It is single origin cacao, sourced from one region to preserve its unique flavor and energy. They focus on the Criollo variety, a rare and high-quality cacao bean believed to be the original type used in chocolate production. Each bean is hand-selected, and grown using sustainable practices that respect the land and its people. This is cacao in its most authentic form natural, intentional, and aligned with the spirit of our ceremonies.

The definition of a sisterhood is a social, ethical, and emotional pact made between women. Sisterhood is a powerful bond rooted in shared strength, connection, and purpose, and as sisters, we treat each other as equals, not opponents.  

Together, we honor each other and the natural world, creating a collective energy that empowers and uplifts, with a shared intention to bring more compassion and connection into the world. When woven with elements of witchcraft, it becomes a space of healing, unity, and transformation.

During our retreats, we offer guided yoga flows led by our lovely Björg who is a certified yoga teacher. She invites you to focus your intention on your breath and learn to listen to your body and its needs.

All of Björg’s sessions are trauma orientated where the emphasis is to deepen the connection to ourselves through breathwork, and mindfulness practices. Her offering includes a variety of guided meditation practices and yoga flows, with various intentions;

The re-connection with our wild women, opens our hearts to our inner witches that reside in all of us and deserve to shine! Mindfulness so we can feel grounded and present in the Now. Yoga Nidra for our body, breath, mind, and energy to interconnect.

There is no one correct definition of creativity, which is why we make space for all sorts of art sessions; Choose your own creative adventure! 

This is your time to delve into your creativity and find your voice. Be it photography, drawing, painting, poetry, writing, film-making, dancing, singing, or learning the art of ancient rune wood carving!

Creativity is an important part of Völur where we let our creative energy flow through us as a way to reconnect to ourselves and channel healing energies through art.  We aim to reach a ‘’flow state’’ - a space of complete focus and permission to fully immerse ourselves in the enjoyment of art making. At our retreats we always make sure to facilitate a safe space for our participants, allowing them to express themselves fully and freely and to set out on their healing journeys. 

The Wild Woman is one of the core feminine archetypes in Jungian psychology, most vividly brought to life by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés in Women Who Run With the Wolves. She is the instinctual, untamed guide we follow at Völur, an archetype who leads us back to our deepest selves. The Wild Woman embodies the untamed, instinctual side of women, stripped of societal norms and expectations. Using her archetype as our compass, we aim to facilitate retreats that invite participants to explore their true, unfiltered selves.

Each experience can encourage women to reconnect with their inner wildness, reclaiming the power and wisdom often subdued by social constructs, and redefine "womanhood" in a way that feels most authentic. This archetype reminds us that wildness is not chaos; it’s primal, rooted wisdom and a profound connection with nature.

Our wonderful Alana is our head cook and weaves her magic and love into all her dishes.

All our meals during our retreats are home-cooked and plant-based. We always strive to source our produce from local Icelandic farms and/or keep it as organically grown as possible, depending on the season. Food is the one element that we truly cannot live without and we believe that food is medicine so at our retreats we always include herbs, herb infusions, and other means of plant medicine.

Our land was revered and treated as a gift from the goddesses and we strongly believe it should continue to be treated with respect and kindness!
